Cleanup
from Winter Storm Fern is underway across our county, and I want to share
an update on what’s happening and what you can expect in the days ahead. If
you need help moving debris, the Crisis Cleanup
Hotline is available at 844‑965‑1386.
Services are free, though not guaranteed.
Custom Tree Care, our contractors, are currently removing vegetative debris
along county‑maintained roads and are working to clear fallen limbs
and trees from the public right‑of‑way. I know many of you are
working hard to get your properties cleaned up, and I appreciate your
patience as crews make their way through each area.
For residents who live along state‑maintained roads, TDOT has
contracted with a company called Phillips to handle debris removal. They are
currently finalizing their plan and expect to begin cleanup in the
coming days.
A few important reminders: Place storm‑related vegetative debris—tree
limbs, branches, and stumps—in the public right‑of‑way. Please
do not bag debris; bagged material cannot be collected. Household trash and
general cleanup waste are not part of this pickup. Keep debris away from
water meters, fire hydrants, and above‑ground utilities. Crews will
make multiple passes through affected areas until further notice.
Residents inside the City of Lebanon or the City of Mt. Juliet should
follow their city’s cleanup procedures. Tomorrow, I have a scheduled
meeting with WEMA to go over our contracted cleanup crew’s plans in more
detail, as well as FEMA’s ongoing efforts. I will share another update
after that meeting so everyone stays informed on what comes next.
Thank you for your cooperation, your patience, and the way you continue to
look out for one another. We’ll get through this cleanup just like we
always do—together.
